How to do a Publix Gas Card Deal
Every so often you will hear the hype about gas card week at Publix; a very popular offer that many shoppers like to take advantage of. Not exactly sure how to get the gas card deal? Keep reading and we’ll explain!
What if I told you that instead of paying for your gas at the pump, you could prepay for a gas card at Publix and save an extra $10?! By planning ahead, you can grab your groceries and pay for gas in one stop, which will save you both time and money. We are going to have to buy gas anyway, why not save ourselves a little cash?
How it Works:
On gas card weeks, you will find a coupon for $10 off a $50 gas card (when you spend $50 or more on groceries) in the Publix weekly ad. This $50 includes food, personal care items, and/or household items. There are a few exclusions listed on the coupon such as alcohol, tobacco, and pharmacy items so make sure to read the fine print. The $50 in groceries will be the total of your items after all sales and store discounts but BEFORE coupons. Once you’ve got your groceries and are ready to checkout, grab a $50 gas card from the gift card display (you can choose the gas station of your choice) and head over to the checkout lane!
The cashier will scan all of your groceries and then your $50 gas card, making your total $100 (or more). Hand the cashier the $10/$50 gas card coupon, that you clipped out of the Publix ad, and your total drops to $90. Don’t stop there! Now hand the cashier any manufacturer and/or store coupons that you have for your groceries, and your total will drop even more! The more coupons you have, the more money you will save!
This can also be a great time to redeem your rainchecks from previous sales, if you have any. Soon you’ll be walking out of Publix with a cart full of cheap groceries, a $50 gas card, and your head held high! Gas cards do not have any activation fees like other gift cards do either, so that’s another plus.
Stack Competitor Coupons
If your store accepts competitor coupons and you have a threshold coupon (like a $5/$25 purchase coupon), you may combine it with the gas card coupon as long as you meet the spending requirements for both coupons. For example: If you want to use a $5/$25 competitor coupon in addition to the $10/$50 gas card coupon, your total would have to be $75 in groceries in order to use both threshold coupons, but you’ll save more money!
That’s it! I hope we’ve helped you understand how you too can take advantage of the Publix gas card deal. Now keep an eye out for the next gas card week and enjoy the extra savings on gas and groceries!!
